Parallel Space is a multidisciplinary, independent art space, combining a contemporary art gallery and an exhibition art space, fulfilling the parallel roles of cultural hubs and art collecting purposes. The core practices include discovering and promoting artists, curating innovative exhibitions, and educating the public, pushing beyond a typical "white-cube" space into a diagnostic art gallery space, situated in a duplex shop unit in Tai Nan Street, Sham Shui Po, on the Kowloon side of Hong Kong.  

In the past seven years, over 80 exhibitions have happened in Parallel Space, establishing itself as one of the most active independent art galleries in Hong Kong. Founded in 2018 by Kim Lam, the creative director, curator, and founder-director, the gallery is dedicated to exhibitions curated to show various art forms created by artists mainly based in Hong Kong, including solo and group exhibitions for emerging academic graduates, local artists, and photographers whose works strongly represent the contemporaneity of Hong Kong in an alternative way. Throughout the years from the 2019 social clashes, the covid-19 era, and the post-national security law applied to the city, our exhibitions subliminally projected a cultural journey to witness the rapid changes of Hong Kong. 

Parallel Space also carefully selects collaborations with projects & programs proposed by artists, creatives, and local NGOs, to share the gallery space through renting and co-curation. Combining the shows hosted by the collaborators and our own curated exhibition, the diversity of programming made Parallel Space another layer of hybrid identity, demonstrating a contemporary art gallery that blends with exhibition space, providing an artistic & thoughtful viewing experience for the audience, and connecting art lovers to collect the works of our selected artists.
